10 Things I'd bring on a boat to the pacific islands

Kia ora today in Whenua and Takutai we have been practicing for the Summer Learning Journey by doing the 1st task during school time. Takutai came into our class this morning to learn more about their blogs so we helped them sign up for the S.L.J. The first task was to watch a video and learn about how people out in the pacific ocean learn to tell the time by looking at the stars and finding islands by looking at the clouds. Then we had to come up with 10 things we would bring on a boat to the pacific island. My buddy was Penelope so Penelope and I came up with things together, though I must say we basically just came up with a couple of things under categories like how we did our fruit and vegetables. Halfway through doing this task Miss Farr stopped the class and talked to us about how we need healthy food and what we need to stay alive such as water and stuff.

Muesli Reflection

Last Friday we made muesli, We have been planning to make this muesli since week 1 and we finally got to make it in week 5. For the first 3-4 weeks of the term we were looking into healthy and nutritional foods for on the go and for snacks, In week 4 on Friday we started making cereal boxes made out of paper for our muesli to go in. We started by researching different muesli brands and finding out what we want to call our mueslis, I ended up calling mine crunch 'n' munch because it was crunchy.

On Friday we made the muesli our teacher wasn't at school because she was away at a wedding so we had another teacher, I teamed up with Milla to make really good muesli if I'm being honest it was so good and the texture wasn't too bad either.

One thing Milla and I would change is adding more cinnamon and planning more about what we are gonna do instead of just grabbing and putting in whatever we can find. Overall making muesli was really fun and hopefully, we can do other things like that but we only have 3 weeks left of term and next Friday is the last day for tech so we probably won't be able to do anything else exciting because next year i'll be a year 7 and i'll be going to tech.

Muesli week 5

Today we made muesli that we have been planning to do for the last 3 fridays while the year 7’s were at tech. Me and Milla worked in a pair and made a big batch of muesli with oats, crushed up wheat bix, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, marshmallows and dried mangos.

The week before we made the muesli we planned what we had to bring in to class and what we wanted to make the muesli with.

Everyone bought things in to make the muesli but when we got to making it everyone just put anything they could find and wanted it was really fun and everyone enjoyed it I hope we get to do things like that again.

Diya

Kia ora this term we have been making diyas. A diya is made from clay ghee or oil, After you shape it let it dry and then paint it. The first diya I made cracked and broke while I was painting it, I then had to get more clay to make a new one. The paint dryed quite fast on our diyas which was good because then we can add more layers and designs. The clay takes a long time to dry maybe 1-2 days you can tell it is dry when it turns white. Making these diyas were fun apart from watching people paint theres while you are waiting for yours to dry.

Diwali - Fly me up summary

Kia ora, today I did my fly me up summary. On our class site, one of our tasks was to read an article called fly me up and then fill out a summary. The article was about a lady called Tiffany that travelled the world to all the places that celebrate diwali and to learn how different people celebrate it. In my summary I put how many people dont wish to be rich, have alot of friends and be popular like many people would, they wish to have a family that sticks together and be warm and to have good spirits around them.

Rangoli pattern

Kia ora for the past couple of weeks our class has been working around Diwali. A part of Diwali is the rangoli pattern, which is a pattern made of brightly coloured sand put into a pattern on the ground. Rangoli patterns are designed as a gesture to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. The patterns of rangoli are lotus and flowers.
Here is my rangoli pattern
